Steps for RemovingDiaper Stains from Your Lawn

The key to removing ugly diaper stains from your lawn is to act quickly. The longer you wait, the more difficult it’ll be to get rid of them. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Using a shovel, scoop up any solid waste and dispose of it properly.
  • Spray the stain area with a hose. This will loosen the remaining dried-on material.
  • Spray the area with a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts water.
  • Scrub the area vigorously with a soft-bristle brush. This will help break down and remove the stain.
  • Rinse the area with a hose until the water runs clear.
  • You can repeat steps 3-5 if the stain does not come out the first time.
  • If the stain is still present, try using an enzymatic cleaner. These contain natural bacteria that breakdown any organic molecules left in the soil.
  • After allowing the enzymatic cleaner to work, rinse off the area with the hose and allow it to dry.

Tips for Preventing Diaper Stains on Your Lawn in the Future

It’s always better to prevent a problem than to try to fix it after fact. Here are some tips for preventing diaper stains on your lawn in the future:

  • When possible, change your baby’s diaper on an absorbent surface such as a towel, not the lawn.
  • If diaper leak occurs on the lawn, clean the area immediately. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to remove.
  • In case of large spills or accidents, consider using a “doggie doody bag” which you can fill with absorbent materials like straw and then dispose of properly.
  • Be sure to collect any solid waste and dispose of it in a sealed bag.
