Diaper stains happen, and they’re especially tough to remove from fabrics like plush velvet and silk. But don’t despair — with a few simple cleaning steps, you can restore your child’s hair ties back to their original glory! Here’s what you need to do.
The first step is to pre-treat the stain with shampoo. Start by wetting the affected area with lukewarm water and then apply a small amount of shampoo. Massage the shampoo into the material until it forms a lather, then rinse off with cold water. This should help loosen up the stain for easier removal.
Once you’ve pre-treated the stain, it’s time to move on to the next step — applying a stain removing solution. For this, mix together equal parts white vinegar and warm water. Dip the hair tie into the solution and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. Then, rinse off with cold water.
To finish off the process, machine wash the hair tie separately in cold water. Make sure to use a gentle detergent and avoid using fabric softener. When it’s finished washing, lay it flat to dry and check for any remaining stains. If there are still a few stubborn areas, repeat Steps 1 and 2 again.
With these simple steps, you'll be able to successfully remove diaper stains from your child's hair ties. Just remember to pre-treat the stain, apply a stain removing solution, then machine wash it separately. By following these steps, your child’s hair ties should look as good as new in no time!
