Before beginning cleaning process, you’ll want to make sure your shoes are ready for treatment. Remove any laces or other material that could get in way. Also, make sure to test any cleaning products on a hidden area of the shoes before continuing.
Once your shoes are prepared, begin removing stained areas. Use an old toothbrush and a small amount of laundry detergent to scrub away the stain. Avoid using too much detergent, as this could discolor the fabric. Rinse off the detergent with cool water and then let them air dry.
It’s important to disinfect the shoes after removing the stains. Make a solution using one part vinegar and two parts water. Use a clean cloth to apply the mixture to affected areas, let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with cool water. This will help kill any bacteria that may be lingering on fabric.
If the diaper stains have caused any odor, you can deodorize them with baking soda. Sprinkle the powder over the shoes, let it sit for at least 30 minutes, then shake off the excess. Repeat this process if you still notice an odor.
Once you’ve finished all of the cleaning steps, allow the shoes to air dry. Don’t try to speed up process by putting the shoes in the dryer or by using a hairdryer, as this could damage the fabric. Let them air dry completely before lacing them up and wearing them again.
