Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

The first step in getting rid of diaper stains is to pre-treat the area with a mix of ¼ cup white vinegar and ¼ cup baking soda. Apply the mixture to stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then, rinse the area with warm water until all of the residue is gone.

Step 2: Wash Using Detergent

Once the pre-treatment is done, use a mild detergent to wash the curtain or drape. Make sure to read the care instructions for the fabric before using any detergent, as some fabrics may require a special type of cleaning product. Once the detergent is applied, launder it using the machine's gentle cycle.

Step 3: Remove the Stain With OxiClean

If the diaper stain is still visible after washing, you can try using Oxiclean. Place some of the OxiClean in a spray bottle and mist the stained area. Let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Repeat this process until the stain has been removed.

Step 4: Check for Colorfastness

Before applying any cleaning solution to your curtain or drape, it's important to make sure that the fabric is colorfast. To test the fabric, apply a small amount of the cleaning solution to a hidden area of the curtain or drape and let it sit for 15 minutes. If the fabric is colorfast, color should stay intact; if the color fades or bleeds, you should not use the cleaning solution.

Step 5: Hang to Dry

Once the diaper stain is removed, hang the curtain or drape up to dry. Depending on the fabric, it can take anywhere from a few hours to a full day for the window covering to completely dry.

Conclusion

Diaper stains can be tough to remove, but by following the steps outlined above, you should be able to easily get rid of them. Just remember to always check for colorfastness before applying any cleaning solutions to the fabric, and hang the curtain or drape to dry after the stain is gone.
