Dashikis are a beautiful and colorful item of clothing worn by both men and women. But when you have a child, you know that diaper messes happen. And when they do, they can leave unsightly stains on your dashiki. You might be tempted to give in and throw out the garment, but don't despair! With a few easy steps, you can get rid of messy diaper stains from a dashiki and restore it to its former glory.

What You'll Need

  • A sink or basin
  • A mild detergent or laundry soap
  • Bowl of warm water
  • Stain remover or oxygen bleach

Instructions

  1. Start by checking the item's care label. You'll want to use most gentle cleaning method possible to avoid damaging the fabric.
  2. Presoak garment: Fill your sink or basin with warm water. Add a mild detergent or laundry soap, and mix it into the water until it is dissolved. Place the garment in the mixture, making sure the stain is completely submerged.
  3. Let the garment soak for 30 minutes. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.
  4. Mix up an oxygen bleach solution. Mix one tablespoon of oxygen bleach with one quart of warm water in a bowl. Make sure the oxygen bleach is fully dissolved before proceeding.
  5. Dip a clean rag into the solution, then gently dab at the stained area. Do not rub or scrub, as this may damage the fabric fibers.
  6. Rinse the garment in cold water. This will help remove any remaining traces of the stain.
  7. Launder garment according to the care instructions. Air dry or tumble dry on low heat.

With these simple steps, you can easily remove pesky diaper stains from your dashiki and keep it looking vibrant and new.
