Removing Fresh Stains

If you catch stain soon after it's been created, you're in luck! The best way to tackle a fresh diaper stain is to flush it with cold water as soon as possible. Using a sponge or cloth, gently saturate the stained area and rinse away the mess. If some stubborn residue remains, repeat the process until the entire mess is gone. Then, launder the fabric according to care directions on the label.

Treating Heavily Soiled Areas

For heavily soiled spots that have been lingering for some time, you'll need to do a bit more work. Start by mixing a solution of warm water and laundry detergent (or a gentle dish soap) and use this to pre-treat all of the stained areas. Allow the solution to sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it. If a large amount of staining remains, repeat the process.

Using Oxygen-Based Stain Removers

Once you've done the pre-treatment and rinsed away the bulk of the stain, you may need to give the fabric an oxygen-based stain remover treatment. These bleaching agents are specifically designed for removing set-in stains. When applying the product to fabric, be sure to follow all of the instructions on package carefully to prevent damage. Once you've applied the product and allowed it to sit for the recommended amount of time, rinse the fabric with cold water and allow it to air-dry.
