Diaper stains are no match for a good detergent and a bit of elbow grease. Start by shaking out soiled shirt outdoors to remove as much excess solids as possible without smearing things around.

Step 1: Pre-Treat

To pre-treat your cotton oxford, pour a liberal amount of a liquid enzyme detergent or non-chlorine oxidizing bleach directly onto the stained area. Work in detergent with an old toothbrush. Be careful not to rub too hard against the fibers of your cotton oxford, as this could damage the fabric.

Step 2: Soak

Once you have finished pre-treating, fill a sink with lukewarm water. Add a small amount of laundry detergent, and then submerge the stained shirt. Let it soak for 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 3: Wash

Remove the stained shirt from the soapy water, and launder it in lukewarm water according to the care instructions on the garment label. Use oxygen-based bleach, if recommended, and a mild detergent. Do not use a powdered detergent, as it may leave residue on fabric.

Step 4: Dry

After laundering, hang the shirt up to air dry. Do not dry in a dryer; the heat may set in any remaining stains. If the stain persists after drying, repeat steps 1-4 again.
