Step 1: Clean the Stain

The first step in removing Diaper Stains from baby’s coats is to clean the stain as soon as possible. Begin by blotting the stain with a clean, damp cloth. This will help to absorb some of the moisture. Next spray a small amount of laundry detergent on the area, being careful not to saturate it too much. Finally, use a soft bristled brush to gently scrub the stain. Do this until the stain is no longer visible.

Step 2: Rinse the Fabric

Once the stain has been removed it is important to rinse fabric so that none of the detergent remains. Fill a clean sink or bucket with lukewarm water. Place the coat in the water and allow it to soak for 15-20 minutes. After the coat has had time to soak, drain water and gently squeeze out any excess liquid.

Step 3: Dry Coat

Once coat is free from the residue of the detergent, it can be dried. The best way to dry a coat is to hang it up on a clothes line or drying rack. If this isn’t possible, then lay coat flat on a towel or drying rack. Allow the coat to fully air dry before wearing or putting away.

Additional Tips

  • When treating the stain, always test any cleaners or detergents on a small, hidden area of the coat first to ensure that they will not cause any damage.
  • If the stain is particularly stubborn, you can pre-treat it with a laundry stain remover before washing.
  • Be sure to follow the care instructions on the coat label when cleaning and drying the garment.
