What You Will Need

  • Mild laundry detergent or baby shampoo
  • Lemon juice
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Borax powder
  • Cotton swabs
  • Soft cloth

Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

Before washing, you'll need to pre-treat the stain using a mild laundry detergent, baby shampoo, distilled white vinegar, or borax powder. For vinegar and borax, mix a solution with 1 tablespoon of either ingredient per 1 cup of warm water. For laundry detergent, apply it directly to the stained area and let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing. For the baby shampoo, mix a solution with 4 parts water to 1 part shampoo and apply it to the stained area using a cotton swab.

Step 2: Wash the Chiffon Georgette Fabric

Once the pre-treatment is complete, it's time to wash the fabric. Use the gentle cycle on your washing machine and a mild detergent that is safe for delicate fabrics. Be sure to use cold water when washing chiffon georgette as hot water can cause shrinking and fading.

Step 3: Dry the Fabric

Finally, dry the chiffon georgette fabric in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Don't use a dryer, as the heat from it can cause the fabric to shrink or become misshapen.

Tips and Tricks

  • Be sure to pre-treat stain as soon as possible. The longer it sits, the harder it may be to remove.
  • Spot-clean the stained area with a soft cloth soaked in a mild detergent before washing.
  • Don't scrub the stain, as this may cause the fabric to pill or fray.
