What You'll Need
- Liquid detergent
- Bleach
- A spray bottle
- Clean cloth towels
- Vacuum cleaner
Instructions
- Create a stain-removal mixture by combining one tablespoon of liquid detergent, one tablespoon of bleach, and a quart of warm water in the spray bottle.
- Test the solution on a small non-visible area of the canvas to make sure that it won’t damage or discolor the material.
- Spray stained area with the cleaning solution and allow it to sit for a couple of minutes.
- Gently scrub the stain with a clean cloth towel to loosen and remove any residue.
- Rinse the area thoroughly with clean water to remove any residual soap or bleach.
- Allow area to air dry completely before vacuuming to remove any loose particles.
Additional Tips
- The mixture of detergent and bleach should only be used on white canvas materials.
- It’s important to apply the cleaning solution evenly and gently, to avoid over-saturating the canvas.
- If possible, use a vacuum with an upholstery attachment to get into any small crevices.
- If stain is particularly stubborn, mix together one part white vinegar and two parts water and repeat the steps described above.
