Step 1: Identify Stain Type

Before you start cleaning any stain off of your belt, you must identify the type of stain it is. Diaper stains are usually made up of proteins and oils, making them difficult to remove. Take note of any additional stains such as dirt, grass or food, as they may require different cleaning agents.

Step 2: Select Suitable Cleaning Agent

Once you have identified the type of stain, you must choose the right kind of cleaning agent. For diaper stains, choose a cleaning product that is formulated to break down fats and proteins. Avoid using harsh chemicals or any cleaning products containing bleach, as this could damage the belt.

Step 3: Apply Cleaning Agent to Affected Areas

Follow manufacturer’s instructions for diluting the cleaning agent. Then, use a soft cloth or paper towel to apply the solution directly to the stained area. Allow the cleaning agent to sit and work its magic for at least 10-15 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat

Rinse off the cleaning agent with lukewarm water and inspect the area. If the stain persists, repeat the process with a new application of the cleaning agent. If the belt is made of leather, avoid getting it too wet. Instead, dab the cleaning agent on with a damp cloth.

Step 5: Clean and Condition Belt

Once the stain has been eliminated, clean the entire belt with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. This will help remove any lingering residue from the cleaning agent. If the belt is made of leather, condition it with a leather conditioner. This will restore its natural oils and protect the leather from cracking.
