Accidents happen! No matter how careful you are with babies and toddlers, you’re bound to end up with a diaper stain or two on your carpets and rugs. But don’t worry – removing diaper stains is easier than you might think! Here’s what you should do:
Take a clean cloth and use it to blot the stained area. Make sure you don’t rub, as this will only make stain worse. Continue blotting until all of the liquid has been absorbed.
Once you’ve blotted area, mix up a cleaning solution. Combine equal parts warm water and white vinegar and add a few drops of dish soap. This solution is safe for most fabrics, but it’s always a good idea to test it in an inconspicuous spot first just to be sure.
Using a clean cloth, apply cleaning solution to the stained area. Let it sit for a few minutes before blotting again. Keep blotting until color of the solution is no longer present.
Take a clean cloth dampened with cold water and gently rinse the area. You may need to rinse several times to remove all traces of the cleaning solution.
Let the area air dry completely. If the stain persists, repeat Steps 2-5 until it has been completely removed.
Getting rid of diaper stains can be tricky but with these tips, it’s not impossible! Just remember to take your time and be careful not to damage the fabric in the process.
