Start by gently blotting up any excess liquid with a clean paper towel or cloth. Apply a small amount of pre-wash stain remover directly to the stained area and rub in gently. Leave the pre-wash stain remover on fabric for at least 15 minutes before washing.
Put the garment in the washing machine and make sure to wash it on the highest temperature that the fabric can handle. Use a detergent specifically formulated for removing stains. You may want to use an extra-strength or enzyme detergent for heavily soiled or smelly garments. Make sure to add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the load to help break down the diaper stain.
Once the garment has been washed, put it in dryer on the hottest setting it can tolerate. For best results, add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the load to help remove odors and reduce static. Remove the garment from the dryer as soon as it is done and hang it up to air dry.
If the stain is still visible after one washing, repeat steps 1-3 again. Be sure to use the hottest water and longest cycle the fabric can tolerate. You may also want to try a professional dry cleaning solution with enzymes or oxygen bleach, if necessary.
When dealing with future diaper stains, try to rinse or soak the garment in cold water right away. This will help prevent the stain from setting in. Always read the care labels of American Eagle apparel to ensure that you're following proper laundering instructions.
