When babies are wearing diapers, it’s only natural that accidents happen. Even with the best-fitting diapers, blowouts are difficult to prevent. And when diaper blowouts happen, the mess can spread to clothes, and especially onto activewear. But don’t worry, with a few processes, this is an easy fix! Here’s how you can clean your activewear from diaper stains.
Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain with a Stain Remover
Before you put your activewear in washing machine, it’s important to pre-treat the stain with a good stain remover spray. To get best results, spray the stain liberally and let it sit for at least 10 minutes before proceeding to the next step.
Step 2: Wash on Delicate Cycle With Hot Water and Detergent
Now it’s time to wash the stained clothing. Put it in the washing machine with other similar-colored garments, and use a detergent specifically designed for delicates. Make sure the water temperature is set to hot and the cycle is set to delicate. If you want the best cleaning, you can also add a bleach-free color booster.
Step 3: Air Dry
Once the cycle is finished, it’s time to dry your activewear. Whenever possible, hang dry the clothing — this is especially recommended for delicate fabrics like spandex. You can also try using a no-heat or low-heat setting on your dryer. The combination of heat and tumble drying can cause the stain to set permanently.
Step 4: Check for Remaining Stains
After air drying your activewear, check to see if all the stains were removed. If not, repeat steps 1 and 2 until stains are gone.
