Step 1: Create a Cleaning Solution

The first step is to create a cleaning solution. Begin by adding ¼ teaspoon of dishwashing liquid soap, such as Dawn, to a cup of lukewarm water. Give the solution a stir to mix it evenly.

Step 2: Blot Stain With Clean Towel or Paper Towel

Then start blotting stained area with a clean towel or paper towel. Move your towel in an outward motion and repeat until the stain cannot be seen anymore.

Step 3: Rinse the Area of the Stain

Once you’ve blotted area, rinse the area with cold water. Cold water helps to reduce the acidity from the alcohol in the dessert wine.

Step 4: Apply a White Vinegar Solution

Apply a white vinegar solution to the area by pouring a cup of white vinegar over the stain and letting it sit for 15 minutes. Then rinse the area with cold water.

Step 5: Launder Item

Using cold water, launder the item in a washing machine according to the instructions on the care tag. Be sure to use a mild detergent and don't add any fabric softener. Hang dry the item after washing.
