White and red wine stains are quite common, but dessert wines like sherry and port can be harder to clean. The good news is that it is possible to remove these stains from Venetian lace without damaging the fabric. Here's how.
The first step to removing a dessert wine stain from Venetian lace is to blot the stain with a clean cloth or paper towel to soak up as much of the liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing the fabric, as this could damage the delicate lace.
Once you've blotted stain, you can use white vinegar to help remove it. Make sure to dilute the vinegar in water first, then dip a clean cloth in the solution and dab the stain. Allow the mixture to sit on stain for a few minutes before blotting it again.
Once you've soaked up as much of the stain as possible, you'll need to wash the lace with detergent. Using cold water is important, as hot water may set the stain. To be extra careful, hand wash the lace in the sink rather than putting it in washing machine. Once the lace has been washed, rinse it well and let it air dry.
