Soak It Up

The first step is to soak up as much of the moisture as possible. Blot the stain with a clean cloth or paper towel, pressing firmly but not scrubbing. Resist the urge to rub it out, as this could cause the stain to spread and set into the fabric.

Create a Cleaning Solution

Mix a cleaning solution of 2 teaspoons of dishwashing liquid in 1 quart of cold water. Dip a white cloth or sponge into the solution and gently dab at stain, working it in gently rather than scrubbing or rubbing.

Rinse & Repeat

Once you’ve dabbed at the stain for a few minutes, rinse the area with cold water and repeat process until stain is no longer visible. If necessary, you may need to increase amount of soap in the solution.

Apply an Alcohol-Based Cleaner

If the stain is still visible after you’ve repeated process a few times, try applying an alcohol-based cleaner. Rubbing alcohol or vodka can help to break down stain and lift any remaining residue. Put a small amount onto a cloth and dab at the stain, then rinse with cold water.

Launder As Normal

Once you’ve finished the cleaning process, launder the item as normal and air dry. Do not put it in the dryer until you’re sure that all traces of the stain are gone.
