What You'll Need
- White vinegar
- Oxygenated bleach solution
- Soft cloths or sponges
Instructions
- Treat the stain as soon as possible after it occurs. Fresh wine stains are much easier to remove.
- Leaving the fabric or canvas wet, blot the area with a soft cloth or sponge that’s been dampened with white vinegar.
- Rinse the area with clean water, then blot dry with a fresh dry cloth or towel.
- In a spray bottle, mix one part oxygenated bleach solution and three parts cold water. Shake to combine.
- Spray the stained area until it is saturated, taking care not to let any spray come in contact with plastic or metal pieces of your tent or camping gear.
- Allow the oxygenated bleach solution to sit on the stain for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Air dry or pat dry with a clean cloth or towel.
- Inspect the area and repeat steps 4-7 if needed.
Additional Tips
- Whenever possible, do all cleaning outside or in a well-ventilated area.
- Never use an iron to try to remove a dessert wine stain, as this could spread the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
- Always review the safety instructions for products before using them.
