When you're out having a great night enjoying a glass (or two) of dessert wine, the last thing you want to worry about is spilling it on your beautiful sundress. Of course, accidents happen, and if your sundress has fallen victim to a glass of sweet wine, don't fret—it's possible to remove those dreaded stains with a few simple steps.

Step 1: Blot Immediately

Immediately after the stain occurs, use a dry, clean cloth to blot up as much of the liquid as possible. If wine is fresh, it's important not to spread it further or work it into the fabric—simply blot it gently. You may have to repeat the process a few times.

Step 2: Pre-Treat

Once majority of the liquid has been blotted away, pre-treat stain with special cleaning agents or a gentle detergent. Apply the cleaner to the spot and let it sit for several minutes before rinsing. Be sure to check for discoloration beforehand, as some cleaning agents could potentially cause damage.

Step 3: Rinse

Rinse the stained area thoroughly with cold water. This step is important as it helps to flush out any remaining residue. Repeat the rinsing process until the area is completely clean.

Step 4: Wash

Soak the garment in cold water and detergent, then wash it gently in washing machine. If the stain still has not come out, add a bit of white vinegar to the rinse cycle to lift stain.

Step 5: Dry

Once the stain is gone, it's time to put the sundress in the dryer with a few dryer sheets. The practice of using dryer sheets helps to fluff up the fabric and remove any remaining residue.
