Instructions

  1. Begin by blotting away as much of the wine as possible with a paper towel or cloth.
  2. Create a mixture of half vinegar and half water in a spray bottle and spritz stained area. Allow mixture to sit for a few minutes.
  3. Use a sponge dampened with cold water to gently blot at the stain until it begins to lighten.
  4. Mix a small amount of laundry detergent with water to create a paste consistency, then apply this directly to the stain. Allow the paste to sit for 10-20 minutes.
  5. Using a clean cloth, rinse the paste away using cold water and blot at the stained area until the stain is gone.
  6. Once the stain is gone, soak your garment in cold water for an hour, then hang dry. Do not put the garment in the dryer.

Additional Tips

  • Always make sure to test any cleaning products you use on an inconspicuous spot of the garment before applying it directly to the stained area.
  • If the stain is particularly stubborn, apply a commercial spot cleaner designed for wine stains.
  • Bringing the garment to a professional dry cleaner is always an option if the stain won't come out.
