First, start by treating stain as soon as possible - never let it sit. Scrape off any excess wine from surface of fabric, being careful not to grind the remaining bit into the fabric. Then, use a damp cloth or sponge to press on stain, working from the outside in. This should help to pull out some of the stain.
Now, mix together a cleaning solution that includes both water and dishwashing detergent. Apply this solution to the stain using a clean cloth. Work the cloth in a circular motion, blotting stain until it looks less noticeable. Again, work from the outside of the stain inwards to avoid spreading stain further.
If the stain is still visible after you've tried the basic techniques, it's time to turn to specialized stain cleaners. Products specifically designed to break down tough tannin stains like dessert wine can be incredibly effective. Follow directions on the product label, being sure to test it on an inconspicuous part of the fabric first.
When cleaning dessert wine stains from silk faille, remember to handle the fabric gently. Excess agitation may cause the fabric to weaken. Also, if the stain remains after you've tried several cleaning methods, consider having the fabric professionally cleaned.
