The best way to tackle a dessert wine stain on your sarong is to act fast. Remove the item from the affected area as soon as possible and rinse it under cold running water. Blot stain with a clean white cloth. Do not rub or scrub the stain, as this could cause it to spread.

Next, you'll need to treat the stain with a specialized cleaner. Detergents and soaps typically used for cleaning clothes won't do the job. You can purchase special cleaners designed specifically for removing wine stains from fabric at most supermarkets or drugstores. Follow the directions on package and apply the cleaner to stain.

Allow the cleaner to sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing it off. If any of the stain remains, apply more cleaner and let it sit for another 10 minutes before rinsing again.

Once wine stain has been removed, wash the sarong as you would normally. Be sure to use a gentle detergent and cold water. Once sarong has been properly washed, it should be good as new.
