The first thing you'll need to do is remove any excess liquid from robe. To do this, take a clean, absorbent cloth or paper towel and gently blot at the stain, working from the outside in towards center to prevent spreading. Be careful not to scrub the fabric, as this could cause more damage and spread the stain further.
Once you've removed any excess liquid, it's time to pretreat the stain. To do this, create a mixture of 1/3 cup warm water, 1 teaspoon dish soap, and 1 teaspoon white vinegar. Dip the cloth or paper towel into the mixture and apply directly to the stain, making sure to rub in a circular motion around the edges of the stain. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes before continuing with the next step.
After pretreating the stain, it's time to give your robe a thorough wash. Start by filling a sink or basin with lukewarm water. Add a small amount of laundry detergent to the water and swirl it around until it dissolves. Submerge the robe and let it soak for up to 30 minutes. After the soak, rinse the robe thoroughly with water and hang it to dry.
In some cases, one round of cleaning may not be enough. If the stain persists, repeat steps 1-3 as necessary, being sure to allow ample time between treatments for the mixture to take effect. If the stain is still not coming out, contact a professional cleaner who can help further.
Cleaning dessert wine stains from robes isn't easy, but with a little bit of patience and right tactics, it can be done. Follow the steps outlined above and you'll soon have your robe looking good as new, no matter what it was stained with.
