Things You Will Need

  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Cleaning cloth
  • Laundry detergent

Step 1: Blot Stain

Using a clean and dry cloth, blot the stained area of your peau de soie fabric. This will help lift some of the stain and prevent it from spreading further.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Mix together two parts white vinegar and one part dish soap in a small bowl. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and apply it to the stained area.

Step 3: Rinse Stain

Rinse the stained area with cold water. Blot the area with a clean cloth to absorb any excess liquid.

Step 4: Launder Fabric

Once stain is removed, you can launder the fabric as normal. Use cold water and a mild laundry detergent to ensure that the colors of your peau de soie fabric aren't faded. Hang fabric up to dry.

Tips

  • Be sure to test any cleaning solutions in an inconspicuous area to make sure it won't cause discoloration or damage to the fabric.
  • If the stain has already dried, soak it in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water for 30 minutes before attempting to remove it.
