Before You Start: What You'll Need

  • Detergent
  • White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Wet/Dry Vacuum or Vacuum Cleaner
  • Old Cloth or Towel

Step One: Blot the Stain

The first step to removing a dessert wine stain is to use an old cloth or towel to gently blot up as much of the spill as possible. Do not scrub or rub the area, as this can cause stain to spread and set in. Instead, simply press down on the cloth to absorb the liquid.

Step Two: Apply Detergent and Rub

Once you have blotted up as much of the wine as possible, you will need to apply detergent to the area. You can use a store-bought stain remover, or you can make your own by mixing 1 part detergent to 2 parts water. Once you have applied the detergent, use your fingers to gently rub the area in a circular motion. This will help to loosen any particles that may be clinging to the fabric.

Step Three: Rinse with Cold Water

Once you are satisfied that the detergent has done its job, rinse the area with cold water. This will help remove any remaining detergent as well as any stubborn particles that may still remain. Make sure to keep rinsing until all of the detergent is gone.

Step Four: Apply Vinegar and Baking Soda

For particularly stubborn stains, you can try combining white vinegar and baking soda. First, mix together equal parts of each ingredient to form a paste. Then, apply the mixture to the stained area and let it sit for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes have elapsed, vacuum the area using a wet/dry vacuum or a regular vacuum cleaner.

Step Five: Launder as Usual

Once you have finished vacuuming the area, you can launder the pants as normal. This should get rid of any remaining traces of the dessert wine stain.

Conclusion

Removing a dessert wine stain from pants is not difficult, but it does require patience and some elbow grease. With right detergents and techniques, however, you can easily get rid of the stain and restore your pants to their former glory. Good luck!
