When it comes to removing a dessert wine stain from a pair of oxfords, it’s important to act fast. The longer the stain sits, harder it will be to remove. Before attempting to spot clean the stain, you should test the cleaning agent you plan to use on an inconspicuous patch of the shoe.
Once you have identified a safe cleaning agent, use a soft, white cloth to blot the stained area. Do not scrub the stain, as this may spread stain or damage the fabric of the oxfords. Gently dab the stain with the cloth; starting at the edges and working your way inward.
In a small bowl, mix a solution of one part water, one part white vinegar and one teaspoon of mild detergent. Dip the cloth in solution and wring out, leaving it slightly damp. Blot the stained area with the mixture.
After applying the cleaning solution, rinse the area with plain water and repeat steps 1-3 if necessary. Once you have removed the majority of the stain, wipe the area dry with a towel and leave to air dry completely.
