How to Easily Remove Dessert Wine Stains from Outerwear
No matter how careful you are when it comes to eating and drinking, accidents can still happen. Spilling dessert wine on your favorite outerwear can be devastating. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be a permanent stain. Follow these steps for removing dessert wine stains from outerwear.

Materials Needed
- White vinegar
- Salt
- Borax
- Soft cloths
- Laundry detergent
Instructions
- Blot the stain with a soft cloth to remove as much of the excess liquid as possible.
- Mix together 1 part white vinegar and 1 part salt until dissolved. Apply the mixture to the stain and let sit for 10 minutes.
- Create a paste from 1 part borax and 1 part water. Rub this paste into the stain and let sit for 10 minutes.
- Rinse the stained area with warm water and blot dry.
- If the stain remains, launder garment according to its care instructions using laundry detergent.
Additional Tips
- Make sure to test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first to make sure it won’t cause any damage.
- When dealing with delicate fabrics, use a mild dish soap instead of the vinegar and salt mixture.
- If the fabric is machine-washable, you can add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle to help remove any remaining stains.
