The first thing you need to do is identify the type of Marcella fabric your item is made of. Is it silk Marcella, cotton Marcella, or wool Marcella? Knowing the material of your garment is essential before tackling a dessert wine stain. Silk Marcella should always be treated with gentle cleaning solutions and methods.

As soon as you notice the stain, you must act quickly. Blotting stain is the most important step to take in order to prevent it from setting. Take a clean, white cloth (not colored) and press on the stain to help absorb some of the liquid. Do not scrub or rub as this will spread the stain. Absorb as much of the liquid as you can before moving on to the next step.

Now you can begin the stain removal process. For silk Marcella, it’s best to use a gentle, natural cleaning solution such as warm soapy water with a tablespoon of baking soda or distilled white vinegar. Dip a cotton swab in the mixture and dab it onto stain. Then, blot the area with a clean, damp cloth.

For cotton and wool Marcella, apply a small amount of enzymatic cleaner directly onto the stain. This type of cleaner is specifically formulated to break down and remove protein-based stains, like those caused by dessert wine. Leave the cleaner on the stain for 30 minutes and then rinse it off.

When you’re finished applying the cleane; it’s time to wash the item of clothing. If the dessert wine stain is still visible, pre-treat it before washing. Spray the area with a laundry spotting agent and let it sit for 10 minutes before tossing it into the washing machine.

Once the item has been washed and dried, inspect the area to check whether or not stain is still visible. If so, repeat cleaning steps until the stain is completely gone. After you’ve successfully removed stain, make sure to air dry the garment or tumble dry on a low heat setting.

Finally, it’s always a good idea to have your Marcella fabric items professionally cleaned every few months to keep them looking their best.
