The first thing you want to do is blot the stain! You don't want to rub the stain in. Instead, take a clean cloth or a paper towel and press it firmly on the spot. This serves to soak up some of the moisture, as well as helping to stop the stain spreading further.
Once you've blotted the stain, the next step is to apply cold water. Pour the cold water directly onto the spot, letting it soak in and replace any remaining moisture. Make sure that you're using cold water – heat will set the stain, making it more difficult to remove.
Once you've applied cold water to the spot, you then need to add a detergent. Preferably use a liquid laundry detergent, or a product that contains enzymes that are designed to tackle food or drink stains. If you don't have either of those, you can try a small amount of dish soap.
When you've applied the detergent, you then need to rinse the area. Use cold water and thoroughly rinse away detergent. You may need to repeat this process multiple times depending on the size and severity of the stain, but it's important not to scrub too hard or you could damage the denim material.
Once you're happy that the stain has been removed, you should hang your jeans in a place where they can get plenty of air - ideally this should be outdoors, so that they don't retain any moisture. Also, avoid using hot air or direct sunlight to dry your jeans, as this could set the stain.
