Soak in Cold Water

The first step to cleaning dessert wine spills is to soak the affected area in cold water – and do it quickly! The sooner you soak the area, the less likely the stain will set and become difficult to remove.

Add Detergent & Vinegar

Once you’ve soaked the area in cold water, add a few drops of detergent and a teaspoon of vinegar to the water. Read the label on the bottle of detergent to make sure it is appropriate for the fabric of your clothing item.

Let Soak & Agitate

Allow the clothing item to soak in mixture for 10-15 minutes, then agitate the fabric gently with your hands. Do not rub harshly or use a brush, as this could damage delicate fabrics.

Rinse & Repeat as Needed

Rinse out soap and vinegar solution with cold water, then repeat process if necessary. Once you’ve removed as much of the stain as possible, it’s time to move onto drying and laundering.

Air Dry or Use a Towel

Lay the clothing item flat on a towel and blot the stained area with another towel until the fabric is only damp. Never rub the area or wring out the fabric.

Launder with Stain Remover

If more than one wash is necessary, use a laundry pre-treatment product on stained areas. This will help ensure that stain is completely gone when it comes time to throw your item in the wash.
