Once you have discovered a dessert wine stain on your kimono, it is important to act quickly. The first thing to do is to gently start dabbing the stain with a dry cloth. This will help absorb as much of the spilled liquid as possible while decreasing chances of stain setting into the fabric.
When that has been done, mix a water-detergent solution using 1 tablespoon of mild detergent such as washing up liquid and a litre of cold water, then use this to dab gently at the stain. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the area as this could cause the stain to spread further and also damage the delicate fabric of your kimono.
If the stain is still visible after applying detergent, then you may need to take a closer look and try treating it with a solution of white vinegar and water. Soak a cloth in the solution and press down lightly, repeating the process a few times until stain has faded. Pay special attention to any remaining edges of the stain.
Finally, rinse the affected area with cold water and a second cloth. Avoid leaving any remaining vinegar solution in the fabric as this can actually set the stain. Squeeze out any excess water from the area and allow it to air-dry completely before wearing again.
With these simple steps, you'll have your kimono back to looking its best in no time!
