Start off by blotting the stained area with a paper towel or an old cloth. As tempting as it may be, don’t rub it in as this will only spread stain to more areas. Next, rinse area with cold water before gently sponging the stain with a mild detergent for white materials or a delicate detergent for coloured garments. It is important to remember not to scrub too hard as this could damage the material.
If the stain persists, a small amount of hydrogen peroxide mixed with some dishwashing liquid should do the trick. If you have a particularly stubborn stain, then simply mix baking soda and water together to create a paste and apply it to affected area. Leave the paste to soak in for 15 minutes before rinsing it off. Repeat the process until the stain is gone.
Finally, use a hand steamer on the stained area to help remove the remaining residue. This should also help improve the material’s appearance. Air dry the jumper as tumble drying should be avoided.
With these easy tips, you can make sure your favourite jumper looks as good as new.
