How to Get Dessert Wine Out of Jackets

The first step to take when dealing with any type of stain is to act as soon as possible. The sooner you start treating the stain, less it’ll have time to set and become difficult to remove.

To get rid of a dessert wine stain from your jacket, you should:

  • Dab the affected area with a clean absorbent cloth or paper towel.
  • Mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water.
  • Dampen another clean cloth with the vinegar solution and dab it gently onto stain.
  • Allow the vinegar solution to sit on stain for around 10 minutes.
  • Dampen a cloth with warm water and dab stain again.
  • Continue to dab the stain until it disappears.
  • If the stain persists, repeat the steps above until it is gone.
  • If the stain remains, mix a solution of ½ teaspoon of liquid dish soap and 1 cup of warm water.
  • Dampen a cloth with the solution and dab the stain.
  • Allow the solution to sit for 10 minutes and then rinse the spot with cold water.
  • Pat area dry with a clean towel.

If the stain still persists, take your jacket to a professional dry cleaner as soon as possible.
