1. Blot the Stain Immediately

The most important step is to immediately blot the stain gently with a paper towel or dry cloth. This helps soak up some of the moisture and reduce the spread of the stain. Don’t rub or scrub the fabric as this could cause the stain to penetrate deeper into fabric.

2. Pre-treat the Stain

Once the excess moisture has been blotted away, pre-treat stained area by dabbing a small amount of laundry detergent onto the affected area and rubbing it into a lather. Let the detergent sit for about 5 minutes before rinsing with cold water.

3. Wash in the Washing Machine

If the stain is still visible, place the hanbok in the washing machine with a mild detergent and cold water. Use the delicate cycle and do not add any bleach or fabric softener as these can damage fabric. If any staining is still visible after washing, repeat steps 1-3.

4. Hang to Dry

When the washing machine cycle is complete, hang the hanbok to air dry. Don’t put it in the dryer, as heat can set the stain. Instead, hang the garment up in a well-ventilated area and let it air dry naturally.
