Start by blotting the area with a clean cloth or a paper towel. Avoid wiping the area, as rubbing the stain will drive it deeper into the fabric of your dress. Instead, gently dab the area and absorb as much of liquid as possible.

Once you’ve blotted off excess moisture, create a mixture of one part white vinegar and 2 parts water. Carefully pour a small amount of the mixture onto the stain and allow it to sit for several minutes. The vinegar will help break down the sugars and alcohol in the wine, making the stain easier to remove.

After the stain has been soaking for a few minutes, grab a soft-bristled brush or a toothbrush and gently work the area in a circular motion, taking care not to spread the stain further. Rinse the affected area with cold water. Repeat this process until the stain has faded significantly.

Finally, wash the dress according to its instructions. Typically, dessert wine stains are best removed from lightly colored clothing items such as whites and pastels. Use color-safe bleach if necessary.

You should now be able to enjoy your dress stain-free. With the right know-how and a few simple ingredients, getting rid of dessert wine stains is a breeze.
