Start by using a clean, white towel to blot the stain. If possible, use a paper towel to avoid transferring the stain to other parts of the garment if you use a normal cloth towel. Gently press against the stain in a circular motion, then lift towel to check its progress.
Squirt a small amount of dish detergent directly onto the stain. Work it into the fabric with your fingertips, then leave it to sit for several minutes. If the stain is particularly stubborn, you can try leaving the detergent on the stain for longer.
Once you’ve given detergent a chance to work, rinse the stain with cold water. You may need to use your finger to help work the stain out of the fabric as you rinse.
Finally, give the garment a chance to air dry before putting it in washing machine. This will help ensure that the stain is completely removed before any heat is added to the fabric, which could potentially set the stain.
