Angora is a lightweight fabric known for its soft, luxurious feel and plush appearance. Unfortunately, the delicate nature of this fiber means that spilled or splattered liquid stains—including dessert wine stains—can easily damage it. To avoid permanent staining, act fast when you spot a spill! Here’s what to do:
Before beginning any stain removal process, it’s important to remove as much of the spilled liquid as possible. The best way to do this is to blot up the excess stain with a paper towel, an absorbent kitchen cloth, or a clean, dry sponge.
Once the excess liquid has been absorbed, pre-treat the stain with a mild detergent—preferably one designed specifically for use on fabrics and fabrics with delicate fibers. If a detergent isn’t available, a mild dish soap can be used instead. Work the detergent into the stain gently, using a soft cloth or brush.
Once the stain has been pre-treated, rinse the area with clean, cold water, and then allow fabric to air dry completely. Avoid scrubbing, rubbing, or wringing the fabric—doing so could cause irreparable damage to fibers.
If stain persists after following the steps above, the process can be repeated. In some cases, the stain may require additional pre-treatment, or a more specialized cleaning agent.
If, after several attempts, the stain still won’t come out, consider consulting a professional cleaner who specializes in the care of delicate fabrics. They may be able to suggest additional tips and techniques for getting the stain out.
