Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

Begin by pre-treating the stain with a gentle detergent, such as Dawn. Soak a cloth in the detergent and begin dabbing the stain, using a blotting motion. Do not rub the stain, as this will spread it further. For particularly difficult stains, you may also want to apply a bit of rubbing alcohol directly to the fabric.

Step 2: Wash the Garment in a Washing Machine

Once you have pre-treated the stain, it's time to wash the garment. Set your washing machine to the appropriate water temperature for the fabric, and add a mild laundry detergent. If there is any remaining stain, you could also add a few drops of gentle bleach or a color-safe stain remover.

Step 3: Let the Garment Air Dry

Once the garment is washed, you should hang it outdoors or indoors to air dry. Do not put the garment in dryer, as this could set stain deeper into the fabric.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always test a small, inconspicuous area of fabric prior to treating the stain
  • Be sure to read care instructions on the garment before attempting to remove stain
  • If the stain does not come out after pre-treating and laundering, you may need to take the garment to a professional dry cleaner
