Cleaning crayon stains off a uniform can be tricky, but job isn’t impossible if you know the right steps to follow. Here are some tips on how to deal with this kind of stains efficiently:
- Start by rubbing the stain gently with a soft cloth or a sponge, trying to loosen the wax and get it out of the fabric.
- If that doesn’t help, try a hairspray – it’s known to work wonders on wax-based stains. Spray some hairspray directly onto the stained area and rub it for a few minutes.
- Another great solution is to create a paste with baking soda and water, then apply it directly to the stain and spread it around with a brush or a sponge. Let it sit for up to an hour and then rinse it thoroughly with warm water.
- You can also use a special commercial cleaner made specifically for removing crayon stains from fabrics. Just follow the instructions carefully and make sure to test it on a small area of the fabric before applying it to the entire stain.
- Finally, throw the uniform in the washing machine using the hottest setting possible. If it fits, add some bleach too, as this will help remove any remaining traces of wax.
Crayons can create quite a mess, but don’t despair — as long as you start treating stain ASAP, chances are you’ll be able to get rid of it in no time.
