Tussah silk is a luxurious and high-quality fabric made from the cocoons of wild silkworms. As with any delicate fabric, it’s important to take great care when cleaning it. Crayon stains can seem like a challenge to remove, but it doesn’t have to be if you know the proper steps.
What You'll Need
- A sponge
- Stain remover
- Sink or basin
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Dry cloth
Instructions
- Begin by dampening a sponge in warm water. Gently rub the stain using sponge until you begin to see crayon start to come off.
- Apply a generous amount of stain remover to the area. Allow the stain remover to sit for at least 5 minutes.
- When the time has passed, fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water and mix in some white vinegar. Place the fabric in the water/vinegar mixture and allow it to soak for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, take the fabric out of the mixture and rinse with clean water.
- Sprinkle baking soda directly on the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Gently blot area with a dry cloth, removing any remaining crayon and residue.
- Allow fabric to air dry completely before re wearing.
