What You'll Need
- Mild laundry detergent
- Liquid dish soap
- Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol
- Clean towels
Cleaning the Stain
- Start by using a butter knife or other flat object to scrape off as much of crayon wax as possible.
- Mix one teaspoon of laundry detergent with two cups of warm water. Use a clean towel to blot mixture onto stained area.
- Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes.
- Blot the stained area with a towel until the stain is no longer visible.
- Mix one teaspoon of liquid dish soap and one cup of isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Blot the mixture onto the stained area.
- Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes.
- Rinse area with cold water and blot dry with a clean towel.
Tips
- Be sure to test the cleaning solution on a small, inconspicuous area before applying it directly to the stain.
- If the stain is still visible after the first round of cleaning, repeat the steps above.
- You may also need to consider getting a professional cleaner if the stain persists.
