Before you start, make sure you have all the materials you will need. This includes:
Before you begin treating the stain, make sure the fabric is wet. If it is not wet, lightly mist it with cold water from a spray bottle. Then, using your soft-bristled brush, apply stain remover directly to the soiled area.
After the pretreatment is applied, rinse the area with cold water. Use your brush to help loosen the stain if necessary.
Once the stain has been removed as much as possible, machine wash the swim trunks, using the warmest water setting that's safe for the fabric. Add either laundry detergent or dishwashing detergent to the load, then let the machine complete its cycle.
Once washing cycle is complete, check to see if any stains remain. If they do, repeat the pretreatment and washing steps.
Once the swim trunks are free of the crayon stains, dry them in the dryer on the lowest setting possible for the fabric type. After the dry cycle is complete, remove trunks from dryer and inspect them to make sure the stains are gone.
