Silk tussah fabric is a stunning material that is extremely delicate, yet full of character. But unfortunately, it can easily attract stubborn stains from sources such as crayons. Not only are these stains unsightly, but they can also damage the fabric if not treated properly.

The good news is that crayon stains are 100% removable. If you take the right steps, you can successfully get rid of the stain without damaging the fabric.

Step 1: Treat the Stain Immediately

Time is of the essence when it comes to treating a crayon stain on silk tussah fabric. The quicker you address the problem, better chances of successful removal. If you wait too long, the stain could sink deeper into the fabric fibers and become much harder to remove.

Step 2: Gently Scrape Away Excess Crayon

Using a dull knife or spoon, carefully scrape away any excess crayon that may be present on fabric. This will help to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 3: Create a Cleaning Solution

In a small bowl combine one teaspoon of mild liquid laundry detergent with one cup of warm water. Mix both ingredients together until the detergent is completely dissolved.

Step 4: Apply the Cleaning Solution to Stain

Dip a clean cloth into the cleaning solution and dab it directly onto the stained area. Gently rub the fabric with the cloth in a circular motion until stain begins to lift. Be sure to not rub fabric too hard as this could cause damage.

Step 5: Rinse with Water

When the stain has been successfully removed, rinse the fabric with cold running water. This will help to remove any remaining cleaning solution and prevent any residue from settling into the fabric.

Step 6: Let Air Dry

Once fabric has been rinsed, carefully pat it dry with a clean towel. Then leave fabric to air dry in a well-ventilated area. Do not place the fabric in direct sunlight or near any sources of heat as this could cause the fabric to shrink or fade.

By following these simple steps you should be able to successfully remove any crayon stains from your silk tussah fabric. And remember, with a bit of timely care and maintenance, you can keep your fabric looking as beautiful as ever!
