If your child has drawn all over their poncho, don’t panic; the good news is that there are several methods for getting rid of the crayon stains quickly and easily. To get started, you'll need a few items from around the house.
- Dishwashing liquid
- Scrub brush
- Stain remover
- White cloth
Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain
The first step is to pre-treat the stained area with a stain remover and a damp cloth. Apply the stain remover directly to the cloth, then rub it into the stained area in a circular motion. Let the stain remover sit for about 10 minutes.
Step 2: Rinse with Water
Once the stain remover has had time to work, rinse off the area with lukewarm water. Make sure to use a white cloth to prevent the color from bleeding onto the fabric.
Step 3: Use Dishwashing Liquid
After rinsing off the stain remover, apply a dab of dishwashing liquid to stained area and use a scrub brush to lightly scrub area. Be careful not to apply too much pressure, as you don't want to damage fabric. Rinse off the soap with lukewarm water.
Step 4: Repeat if Necessary
If the stain remains after first attempt, repeat Steps 1-3 until the stain is removed.
Step 5: Dry Fabric
Once the stain is gone, dry the fabric by laying it flat in a sunny spot or using a fan to air dry.
