Crayons are fun and let us explore our creative side, but accidents happen when it comes to kids and crayons. If your child has drawn all over their poncho, don’t panic; the good news is that there are several methods for getting rid of the crayon stains quickly and easily. To get started, you'll need a few items from around the house.
The first step is to pre-treat the stained area with a stain remover and a damp cloth. Apply the stain remover directly to the cloth, then rub it into the stained area in a circular motion. Let the stain remover sit for about 10 minutes.
Once the stain remover has had time to work, rinse off the area with lukewarm water. Make sure to use a white cloth to prevent the color from bleeding onto the fabric.
After rinsing off the stain remover, apply a dab of dishwashing liquid to stained area and use a scrub brush to lightly scrub area. Be careful not to apply too much pressure, as you don't want to damage fabric. Rinse off the soap with lukewarm water.
If the stain remains after first attempt, repeat Steps 1-3 until the stain is removed.
Once the stain is gone, dry the fabric by laying it flat in a sunny spot or using a fan to air dry.
