How to Remove Crayon Stains from Piqué the Easy Way

Crayon stains on piqué fabric can be a real challenge to clean. But don't worry! With just a few simple steps, you can easily remove crayon marks from piqué fabric and keep your garments looking as good as new.

What You Will Need

• Mild detergent
• Water
• Soft cloth
• White vinegar
• Baking soda

Step 1: Test for Colorfastness

Before attempting to remove crayon stains from piqué fabric, it is important to test for colorfastness. To do this, mix 1 teaspoon of mild detergent with 1 quart of warm water. Dab a small amount of the solution onto a hidden area of the fabric, such as the inside of a seam. If fabric’s colors do not run or fade after a few minutes, it is safe to move on to next step.

Step 2: Blot the Stain

Using a soft, damp cloth, carefully blot the stained area to absorb as much of the crayon as possible. Be careful not to rub at the stain, as this may push crayon further into the fabric.

Step 3: Make a Cleansing Mixture

Mix together ¼ cup of white vinegar, 1 tablespoon of mild dish detergent, and 2 cups of warm water. Stir the mixture until ingredients are well combined.

Step 4: Soak the Stain

Soak a soft cloth in the cleansing mixture and lay it over the stained area. Allow the cloth to sit for 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 5: Rinse the Fabric

Remove the damp cloth and rinse the area with cold water. Blot the area until it is completely dry.

Step 6: Use Baking Soda

If the stain is still visible, make a paste with baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the stained area and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Then, gently scrub the area with a soft toothbrush before rinsing with cold water.
