For fresh crayon stains, start by rubbing the fabric with your fingers to break up as much of the wax as possible. Next, use the edge of a spoon to scrape away any remaining wax residue. Once finished, pre-treat the area with liquid laundry detergent and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Afterwards, wash garment in cold water and hang it to dry.
To remove set-in crayon stains, start by pre-soaking the clothing in warm water for 30 minutes. An alternative is to rinse the stain with hot water, using a hand-held sprayer. After pre-soaking or spraying stain, use a liquid laundry detergent to pre-treat the area. Let the detergent sit for 5-10 minutes before washing the clothing in cold water.
If a stain persists, you can try using a solvent like eucalyptus oil, petroleum jelly, baby oil, or vegetable oil. Saturate the stain with the solvent and let it sit for 1-2 hours. Afterwards, pre-treat the area with liquid laundry detergent and then wash the clothes in cold water. Hang the garment to dry.
