Grab an old, soft-bristled toothbrush and gently scrape away at the excess wax. This will help remove any top layers of the crayon, making it easier to clean up the rest.
Choose a liquid stain remover that works with fabrics, such as OxiClean or Shout. Follow the directions on label for the best results. When stain remover is applied, gently rub it into the fabric with your finger. Let it sit for 10 minutes so it can break down the wax.
Rinse the area with cold water and then pop it into the washer with rest of your laundry. Wash the maxi dress on a warm setting with detergent and 1/2 cup vinegar. Vinegar helps to remove any last traces of the crayon stain. Air dry the maxi dress.
Always check your care label before attempting to clean any garment. If your maxi dress is dry clean only, take it to the cleaners.
Never iron any clothing that has a stain on it because the heat from iron can set the stain permanently.
