What You'll Need:

  • White vinegar
  • Water
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Baking soda
  • A soft cloth

Step One: Blot the Stain

Start by gently blotting the stained area with a soft cloth. Don't rub it as this will only make the stain worse. If the stain is still wet, dab the area with a dry cloth.

Step Two: Create a Mixture

Mix one part white vinegar with one part water in a small bowl. Dip a soft cloth into mixture and gently dab stained area. Be sure not to saturate the fabric, as this could cause damage.

Step Three: Apply Dishwashing Liquid

Create a soapy solution by mixing a few drops of dishwashing liquid with several tablespoons of warm water. Use a soft cloth to scrub the stained area with the soapy solution. This should help to break down the crayon stain.

Step Four: Rinse Away the Stain

Rinse the stained area with cold water and a soft cloth until all traces of soapy solution are removed.

Step Five: Baking Soda Treatment

Make a paste with baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the stained area and let it sit for an hour. Then rinse the paste away using a damp cloth and cold water.

Step Six: Repeat if Necessary

If the crayon stain persists, repeat these steps until the stain is gone.
