No matter how much we love them, kids can make some pretty big messes. Most of the time, they come in form of crayon marks on your favourite leggings or other clothing. Thankfully, you don’t have to throw out your wardrobe and start over! It is possible to get those crayon stains out of your beloved garments.
To get started, you’ll need some basic supplies. You’ll need a spray bottle to mist water onto the fabric, an old rag, a brush (like a toothbrush), some liquid detergent, and some white vinegar.
Before you tackle scrubbing that stain away, you’ll want to pre-treat it first. Mist the area with a spray bottle full of water, just enough to moisten it. Then, apply a small amount of liquid detergent to the stain and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
Once the pre-treatment has had time to set, it’s time to scrub. Using a brush, gently scrub the stain in circular motions. If you’re finding it difficult to remove, mix some white vinegar with a bit of lukewarm water to create a paste. Apply this paste to the stain and continue gently scrubbing. The combination of vinegar and detergent should help break down the stain.
Once the stain is gone and the area is all scruubbed, rinse the area with cold water. Do not use warm or hot water, as this will only set the stain. Then, dry the fabric either in machine or with a cloth.
