If you have a crayon stain on your hanbok, the first step is to identify what type of fabric it is made of. Different kinds of fabrics require different cleaning methods – for instance, dry-clean only fabrics should be professionally cleaned, whereas most non-dry-clean fabrics can be cleaned with simple household products. Check the care label on your hanbok to find out the appropriate method.
If your fabric allows, the simplest way to remove a crayon stain is to soak it in a mixture of 1/4 cup of white vinegar and 2-3 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid dissolved in a gallon of warm water. Allow the garment to soak for at least an hour. Then, rinse the garment in cold water and allow it to air dry.
If the stain remains, you can use a specific stain remover designed for the material. Apply the product according to the manufacturer’s instructions and then launder the item as recommended. Repeat if necessary.
If the stain is still not gone after all of these steps, you may need to turn to professional dry cleaning. It’s important to treat stains quickly, as the longer they sit, the harder they are to remove.
With a bit of patience and the right cleaning technique, you can easily get rid of those pesky crayon stains on your hanbok.
